Arafura Container Ship SOx
Test Results
The data below compares the Sulfur Dioxide
test results obtained by ETC, an Australian certified laboratory, on the
container ship Arafura to the standards set by the International
Maritime Organization.

IMO Annex VI Regulation 14 regarding
Sulfur Dioxide
Sulfur content of any fuel oil used on
board ships shall not exceed 4.5%
Designation of SOx emission control areas,
where one of the three following conditions must be fulfilled:
1. Sulfur content of fuel oil used on
board ships does not exceed 1.5%
2. Use of exhaust gas cleaning system to reduce total SOx/SO2 emissions
from both auxiliary and main propulsion engines to: 6.0g SOx/kWh (8.0g
SOx/hp-hr)
3. Use of any other technological method that is verifiable and
enforceable to limit SOx emissions to 6.0g SOx/kWh

Green Plus
Emissions Test Results on Arafura.

Green Plus Emissions Results When
Compared to IMO Standards for Ships of Arafura's Size
- Fuel consumption rate of 2.44
tons per hour on test date
- Average sulfur content of the fuel: 2.95%. Calculated sulfur dioxide
level = 9.720g/kWh
- The emissions measurements indicate the ship was averaging 1700 g/min
of sulfur dioxide (102,000 grams per hour) = 6.78g/kWh
- This rate is close to the IMO standard of 6.0g/kWh and is 30.26%
below the expected value without Green Plus.
- In this test Green Plus was not optimized to get the lowest sulfur
dioxide emissions
- New tests are underway to improve emissions reduction.
